Rock collecting may be something that kids do right at that time when they start the science field trips but only few of these kids actually continue with their hobby. In fact, most of them would start collecting rocks for a year and then complete abandon the project when the next lesson or new school year comes.

Still there are some people who are really serious in their rock collecting activities and despite the problems that they encounter they still continue with the work. And really you have got to really love rock collecting before you can actually continue with it. Unlike other collection, this can be pretty complicated and may involve a lot of work.

Here are some of the problems that rock collectors often encounter:

1. Finding rocks to collect
Not every rock that you see deserves a place in your collection. In order to really build and create a great collection, you have to know which rocks are worthy to collect and which are just commonly found.

To do this, you need to read up on rocks and rock collecting. There are books that will allow you to look at samples of rocks that you can add to your collection. You can also check the internet and join rock collecting communities. You can interact with other rock collectors, ask questions and learn from their experience. This is also a wonderful way to get some insider tips and tricks from the experts. They can help you with locations where you can find rocks to add to your collection.

3. Place to display
Rocks can be pretty tricky to keep and display. Remember that although they are hard, they can break and keeping them in just anywhere can damage their shape. If you are really keen into rock collecting, make sure that you have a place where you can keep the rocks that you get. One disadvantage though is the fact that rocks can take up a lot of your space. Some rocks in your collection can be really big and most people who are into collecting rocks find it a challenge to find a place where they can put their collections on display.

It is not enough that you just put them in boxes and let them waste away under your bed or inside your cabinet. If this is the case, then you should just get into another collection that do not really require a huge amount of space.
